How to cancel Audible

This one cancels from your account page in a couple of minutes, with nobody to talk to.

The catch

Audible is the one on this page where cancelling too quickly costs real money, because of credits. Unused credits are forfeited when a membership ends, and each one is worth roughly the price of an audiobook. People with four or five credits banked routinely cancel and hand back more value than a year of membership fees. Spend them first. Separately, Audible will offer to pause the membership for up to three months during the cancel flow, which is a genuine option rather than a retention trick.

Spend every credit before you confirm anything. Credits do not survive the end of a membership, they are not refunded, and they cannot be reinstated afterwards. Books bought with them are yours permanently, so converting credits into books before cancelling turns something that expires into something that does not.

Everything you have ever bought stays in your library and stays listenable after cancellation, credits purchases included. What you lose is the Plus Catalogue, the rotating included listening, since those titles were only borrowed. Any of those still on your device stop playing.

Membership benefits run to the end of the current billing period. Audible is more willing than most services to refund a recent unwanted charge if you contact support, particularly a renewal you did not intend, so a charge that landed in the last few days is worth asking about rather than writing off.
