How to cancel Starz

This one cancels from your account page in a couple of minutes, with nobody to talk to.

The catch

Starz is sold almost everywhere except, for many subscribers, by Starz. It is resold as an add on channel through Amazon Prime Video, through Apple, Google, Roku and Samsung, and through cable and mobile providers. Each of those bills you itself and each cancels only in its own account. Signing into starz.com and finding no subscription to cancel is the normal experience for anyone in that position, and it is not a fault.

  1. Log in to STARZ.com
  2. Select the user icon in the upper right and choose Settings
  3. Under Billing Plan & Information select Cancel Subscription
  4. Follow the on screen steps and select Submit

After you cancel Starz

Access runs to the end of the current billing period, and the series and films in your list stay watchable until that date. Nothing is refunded for the remainder of a period you have already paid for.

Downloads stop playing when the subscription lapses, including anything saved to a phone or tablet for a journey. They are licensed rather than stored, so the files remaining on the device does not mean they will open.

Where a third party does the billing, expect a lag. Cancelling an add on channel inside Amazon or a cable package often leaves one more charge on the next bill, because their billing cycle and the Starz one rarely line up.

If you subscribed to Starz through a third party (Apple App Store, Google Play, Amazon, Roku, Samsung, etc.) you must cancel through that provider instead; Starz has separate help articles for each. Apple-billed Starz is handled via StoreKit at https://apps.apple.com/account/subscriptions.

Questions people ask about cancelling Starz

I subscribed through Amazon Prime Video. Where do I cancel?
In Amazon, under your channel subscriptions, not on starz.com. Starz as a Prime Video Channel is an Amazon subscription that happens to deliver Starz, and Amazon is the only party that can stop the charge.
starz.com says I have no subscription. Am I still being charged?
Very likely, by someone else. Find the charge on your card or bank statement and read the name on it. Whoever appears there, whether that is Apple, Google, Amazon, Roku or a cable provider, is who has to cancel it.
Can I finish the series I am partway through?
Yes, provided you finish before the end of the current billing period. Access does not stop at the moment you confirm the cancellation, and the end date is shown when you cancel.
Will my downloads still work offline?
No. Downloaded titles stop playing once the subscription ends, even though the files are still on the device. Watch anything saved for a trip before the end date rather than relying on it afterwards.
