How to cancel Hulu

This one cancels from your account page in a couple of minutes, with nobody to talk to.

The catch

Hulu now sits inside the Disney billing system, which means the account page you need depends on when and how you signed up. Subscriptions taken through the Disney bundle are cancelled on the Disney+ account page rather than on Hulu's. Older standalone Hulu accounts still cancel at secure.hulu.com. Add ons are the second trap: Live TV, premium channels like Max or Showtime, and the no ads upgrade are separate line items, and cancelling the base subscription does not always end all of them.

After you cancel Hulu

Hulu keeps running until the end of the current billing cycle, and the cancellation screen shows the date. There is no refund for the unused remainder, so there is no advantage to cancelling early in a month.

Rather than cancelling outright, Hulu offers a pause of up to twelve weeks. It stops the billing, holds your profiles and watch history, and restarts automatically. For a gap between seasons of something you actually watch, that is the better tool, because a cancellation you have to remember to reverse is a subscription you will either forget to restart or forget to keep cancelled.

Your profiles, watchlist and viewing positions are retained after cancellation, so returning to the same account restores them. Downloads stop working when the period ends.
