How to cancel X Premium

This one cancels from your account page in a couple of minutes, with nobody to talk to.

The catch

There is no single place to cancel X Premium. It cancels on the platform you bought it on, and only there. Subscribe in the iPhone app and Apple bills you, so it ends in iOS Settings. Subscribe on Android and it is Google Play. Subscribe on the web and it is x.com. People sign up on a phone, later try to cancel on a laptop, find nothing that looks like their subscription, and conclude the option has been hidden. It has not. You are on the wrong platform.

After you cancel X Premium

Your Premium features run to the end of the billing period you already paid for, and there are no refunds for the unused part on any tier. That includes annual subscriptions, which run their full term.

The blue checkmark goes when the subscription lapses, along with edit post, longer posts, reply prioritisation and the reduced advertising. Anything you published while subscribed stays published. Long posts you wrote as a subscriber remain readable at full length rather than being truncated, and edited posts keep their edits.

Your account itself is untouched. Cancelling Premium is not deleting an account, so followers, posts, bookmarks, lists and direct messages all stay exactly as they were. If you also want the account gone, that is a separate deactivation, and it is worth cancelling the subscription first so the billing stops cleanly before the account it belongs to disappears.

Worth knowing

Cancel from your X settings on the same platform you subscribed on; features remain until the end of the billing cycle and there are no refunds. If you subscribed inside the iOS app it is Apple billed via StoreKit and must be cancelled in Apple subscription settings.

Questions people ask about cancelling X Premium

Why can I not find X Premium in my settings?

Because you are looking on a different platform from the one you subscribed on. A subscription bought in the iPhone app is billed by Apple and cancels in iOS Settings, an Android one cancels in Google Play, and a web one cancels on x.com. Only the original platform can end it.

Do I get a refund if I cancel X Premium?

No. There are no refunds for the unused part of a billing period on any tier, annual subscriptions included. You keep the features until the current period ends, which is the only value you recover from cancelling early.

What happens to my checkmark and my old posts?

The checkmark disappears when the subscription lapses, along with edit post and longer posts. Everything you already published stays up, including long posts, which remain readable at full length rather than being cut back.

Does cancelling Premium delete my X account?

No. Cancelling removes the paid features and leaves the account alone. Followers, posts, bookmarks, lists and messages are all unaffected. Deleting the account is a separate deactivation, and it is cleaner to cancel the subscription first.
